markjames Posted February 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, the gods at B&H shipping shined upon me this week and my long awaited black M8 showed up at the office. All I can say is that I'm glad I've made due with the Digilux 2 (a fine tool in it's own right) and didn't rush out to buy a DSLR. Got mine with a 28 Elmarit 2.8 ASPH and I'm just amazed by the comination of simplicity and superior build quality of the M8. I'm not asking anymore why people own two of these. Now I'll be poking around the house trying to figure out what to sell (old Nikon Fe's and lenses, motorcycle, old laptops, etc) so that I can feed my newly developed lens habit (75 cron next up). Despite the early trials and troubles, all in all, they've done a nice job with this one. jonoslack Posted February 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2007 LOL - and a 17" powerbook with a Tivoli radio - all familiar stuff. Congratulations on your new toy - and nice shots as well. It's a thing of wonder isn't it (I've done two trips to ebay recently).

I am quite amazed how similar desks all around the world look among people who love good design - which goes for Leica M as well.

tokenfemme Posted February 1, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2007 Did you get the lens from B&H as well? I didn't know they had it. Congratulations, and great pictures.
markjames Posted February 1, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks for the cudos on the images - it's interesting now to adjust my shooting with a rangefinder after mostly SLRs and the 'live view' on the Digilux 2. Yes, the 28 lens actually arrived first back in December from B&H, along with all the other support gear (spare battery, IR filter, sensor brush, etc.) that came trickeling in over the last 12 weeks. Everything but the camera itself which finally completed the puzzle Perceptive readers/viewers out there too picking up on the other 'designed' desk items. Making a living as a design consultant I'm sort of cursed with always having to make the 'functional design' choice whether it's a radio, lamp or even a mailing envelope! Too bad that most of the time these more evolved, elegant choices cost more than the standard fare... Mark

carstenw Posted February 1, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2007 I particularly like the fact that there's a print of the third photo sitting on the desk in the first... The trick is of course to arrange for the reverse to be true as well...
