Hello Wally,

My question dealt with whether or not the place in question was 1 of the places in Alaska that is known Worldwide for a significant melting back of a glacier nearby.

Best Regards,

Michael

Yes it is receding  and at its current rate it will disappear soon, but for now it's still quite spectacular and one of the things we should see soon.

Hello Wall,

The reason I only guess close but never answer exactly in any of these 3 games is that I currently do not have the ability to Post anything.

If there is no one else with an answer, do you have another photo? You do choose good 1's.

By the way, what is the answer? If there is nobody else playing right now.

Best Regards,

Michael

I haven't played yet, but I've been watching for a few weeks, I just haven't known any of the places posted so far.

Hello Mike,

Even if you do not know any of these places personally there are always 1001 clues in each photo to narrow things down, as per latitude/altitude, climate, geology, flora, local costumes, technology, etc to help to determine the location.

Sometimes a puzzle can be solved by a series of inclusions & removals of possibilities.

Best Regards,

Michael

This one has gone on far too long with far too many hints so the answer is JUNEAU ALASKA.

It's unique in many ways. It's at sea level surrounded by the Juneau Icefield that contributes to about thirty glaciers one of which is the Mendenhall. It's the only state capital that is not served by a road system as the terrain is too rugged, so the only way to get in and out of it is by sea or air.

Anyone who is interested please post.

Thank you Michael, I shall keep watching this thread for the next photograph.

Why not post something. That would be a good way to start and a new "poster" I believe would be a welcome event!

As promised, I seem to have a few photos that would be suitable for this competition, some I think will be easy, others not so. Let's start with this one;

Hello Mike,

Could we be in the USofA West of Kearny Nebraska*?

Best Regards,

Michael

* Kearny, Nebraska is the mid point on the Lincoln Highway which is the USofA's first Transcontinental Hiway.

The Lincoln Highwayt begins at Times Square & 42nd Street in New York City & ends at Lincoln Park in San Francisco. Lincoln Park is just after Golden Gate Park, which is also in San Francisco.

It is in the USA and it is West of Kearny.

As an aside, my wife and I take regular road trips and usually look for interesting routes, we drove the Lincoln Highway across Pennsylvania last year.
