Before i read Stuarts thread...i have a gut feeling on Dakota. But a wild guess as I've only been to a few places in USA.

Not one of the Dakotas but not too far away, there aren't too many places the bison still roam free in the USA.

It is Yellowstone, close to the Northeast entrance. We had just driven in from Montana on a road trip last year.
