The issue with photos taken from popular spots is that google image search is very effective. :)

Actually it was easier than that, thanks to that sharp lens, the Hotel Dona Maria appears on the awning. It's across the street from the Girlda the highest point in the city. Congratulations larsv on climbing to the top.

Let's do the same with this. From where and which city.

Hello Jayant,

Not all of us use "Google" or other "images". Some of us figure it out.

Best Regards,

Michael

Of course. That's why I didn't reply. I was pointing out something which was not possible 5 years ago.

Thank you!  If I recall correctly, the Gigonda tower has 37 elevations (not stairs) and it's not too bad.  Photo was taken with a Q, and the lens is very satisfying indeed.

Hello Wally,

It is my understanding that "way, way, way West" of the Hudson River would be either London, or Possibly Manhattan. Depending on a person's definition of "way, way, way West".

Perhaps I am in error.

Could this photo be of somewhere East of the Pacific Ocean & still be "way, way, way West" of the Hudson River?

Best Regards,

Michael

To clarify: West of Manhattan but East of the Pacific Ocean.

East of Mississippi river?

There is too much greenery for LA, It is certainly not San Fran and most probably doesn't look like Seattle area. There are two distinct downtown areas... this kind of overcrowding is not for the west coast where cities are further apart. Therefore someplace east of Mississippi?

West of the Mississippi, not San Francisco, not Seattle, not Minneapolis, not Portland, not North.

Those are hills in the foreground and the "greenery" is some of the highest priced real estate in the country.

The building on the right is a world renowned museum.

Getty Centre LA

[/quote

You are right. At the center is the LA downtown skyline and to the right is the very dense Century City. The Getty is extraordinary, worth the trip and a photographers paradise.

Your turn.
