Extremely fast lens...

Are you sure about this? I had a current version Elmar a couple of years ago and the rear element protrudes quite some distance when in the collapsed position - enough I'd think to foul the shutter blades on an M8.

I'm 100% sure. I've been using this lens, which I got new from Solms three weeks ago on both my M8 bodies and collapsing it without any problem. It maybe Leica redesigned it for the M8 compared to older versions, I don't know. The booklet carries a warning for the M5 and the CL but not the M8.

good news!

I allways liked that 50/2.8.

The lens is said to be quit good at short distances.

However on the M8 kind of long for walk around.

Another nice, small lens is the 35cron (pre-asph).

cheers, Tom

I like the framing discipline a 50 mm lens on the M8 imposes.I must admit I thought the 67 mm focal lenght equivalent would be neither here nor there before I really tried it, but in real use it is rather nice....

I would like to see an official clarification of this.

I like the lens too.
