mike prevette Posted February 1, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My power switch is getting harder and harder to turn off. The tension to turn the camera on is fine, but now when I go to turn it off it's very stiff. It gets progressively stiffer if I start in the self timer mode and gets almost unmovable by the time I get to the off position. i know people have complained about the detent tension, and the gritty shutter but has anyone had similar issues? Â Looks like the trip to Solms might be sooner than I'd hoped. Â _mike

gesper Posted February 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 1, 2007 I'm starting to think the M8 is like Jaguar used to be; a great car, when it wasn't in the shop. Jaguar got their act together eventually, so hopefully Leica will as well. Meantime, for us early adopters the M8 might spend more time in Solms than it does with us. J_Brittenson Posted February 1, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 1, 2007 I'd say it's more like the R8, a beta product. A good product in general, just too poorly tested.
gesper Posted February 1, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 1, 2007 The beta aspect makes sense with regard to gorunbreakers (e.g., digital sensor in a rangefinder), but not things that are produced in mass in consumer-level products (on/off switches, AWB, LCD wheel switches, etc.). eudemian Posted February 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted February 1, 2007 I thought initially that you meant it was hard to stop using the M8 because is was such an addictive activity. Sorry to hear your trouble.
