Amazingly hard and easy to get a black M8

I ordered my black M8 from Amazon on Dec. 11, with an estimated ship date of Jan 11 - 25, and then got an email on Jan 24 with a new estimate of March something.

So, on Jan 24 I placed a "backup" order with Adorama, and I now have word from UPS that the camera will be delivered tomorrow, just a week later. (Amazon order now canceled, of course.)

Go figure...

I had the same experience with Amazon when I ordered the Epson 3800 printer. I finally went with a local retailer. In the end I was disappointed with the printer and returned it. The options of papers available for use with this printer, was rather limited.

I don't know what you mean by lack of paper options. It lets you print on any fine art paper you could possibly think of, you just need to download the right profile for it. With many fine art papers, I just use the profile for an epson paper that is closest to the fine art paper I'm using (eg. Premium Luster profile when printing on Museo silverrag) or I download the profile from the paper manufacturer. If they don't have a customized one for the 3800 YET, use the one for the 4800 and you will be as close as with any non-custom profile on any other printer. I promise you, yo will get stunning results on any kind of paper short of toilet paper.;)

It was also just announced that Epson has released 17x22 sheets of most of their "fine art" papers in the U.K. I am sure that they will be in the US soon. In the meantime the K3 inkset in the 3800 handles the usual suspects (Photo Rag, Museo, Innova etc etc) assuming you have either custom profiled each paper ink combination or are willing to use factory generic profiles for their papers on the 3800.

I am wondering if there were other issues discovered by Wilfredo that had him decide to abandon the printer.

Hmmm ... the inventory originally destined for Amazon got diverted to Adorama? :D

Marc,

BTW, I still have the 1st edition of your book! It's a nicely written book --- a classic!
