mike prevette Posted January 31, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So the 486 filter I ordered from Adorama 3 months ago FINALLY showed up. I had been debating how necessary these were going to be for me, because I usually shoot BW in dark places, and will take any illumination I can But WOW what a difference it makes for color, and tone. I need to play a little more to figure out if I'm going to use them all the time for B@ work. These were totally default conversions in C1 using Jamie's first profile. Lonnie was lit by a fire to her left and fire puts out a lot of IR. _mike
Advertisement Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Hi mike prevette, Take a look here 486 vs non 486. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wilfredo Posted January 31, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2007 You are not kidding! I'll be ordering one this week for my one lens that is not a Leica but a Konica Hexanon M which I use on my M8. Wilfredo+ Benitez-Rivera Photography
colorflow Posted January 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2007 I noticed for some filter sizes there are two different 486 filters in the Adorama catalog. One is called 'digital pro' and is more expensive. Which one did you get? Thanks, Alan
mike prevette Posted January 31, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted January 31, 2007 Looks like I got the digital-pro one. Not sure if there is a difference, all I know is the bastards sent me a silver one. This is one weeks after I hade carefully darkened the chrome front ring of my little 40mm 1.4 Nokton.
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 31, 2007 My hunch is that the ones labelled "digital pro" have the antiscratch anti reflection coating on the side opposite the UV/IR multilayered coating, and the ones that are a little cheaper don't. But the Schneider/B&W literature, especially as recycled in various store website, leaves this unclear. Even Photo-Huppert, which simply hosts the B&W catalog, didn't tell me online, and i didn't speak to them on the phone. scott
