elansprint72 Posted January 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Liverpool is proposed, seconded and ....erm, thirded for the early Spring venue; what about the future? I'd like to suggest the classic car rally at Gawswoth Hall over the May Bank Holiday. I know that some of you are not car dudes but it's as much about people as it is cars; also you get admission to one of the UK's best ancient houses (home of Shakespeare's Dark Lady), no problem with interior photography, owner's son is a mate. Further on (August) there's the Steam Rally at Chelford- you really do see some "different people" at these events. What do you think folks? Pete. andybarton Posted January 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2007 Where is this? Lady Barton doesn't know the family.
Rolo Posted January 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 30, 2007 Pete, You know you can't count on me, don't you ? In spite of that, I put a question to you in response to: "I know that some of you are not car dudes". In the NW Pete, there isn't another "car dude". You are 'him', so why the plural and a reference to the others as if they are the minority ? Further, if Andy doesn't share his blood with this crew, they can't be very high up the English aristocracy ladder in spite of the Sheakespeare link Rolo
stunsworth Posted January 30, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 30, 2007 Pete, I'm up for it - the Gawsworth meeting is worth a second visit. I was rtold about the steam thing by a friend last year but didn't go.
jmr Posted January 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 31, 2007 Pete, they both sound good to me; though I might be unavailable in August - depends on the date.
elansprint72 Posted January 31, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted January 31, 2007 Where is this? Lady Barton doesn't know the family. Welcome to Gawsworth Hall To M'Lady Barton the Richards family would no doubt appear arrivistes; they bought the Hall only three generations back, having made a modest amount in Kenya from tea and coffee. From my place its about 20 minutes in the Lagonda, cross the former estates of the Stanleys of Alderley (dissolute scoundrels, got what they deserved), skirt Egerton's boundary and Gawsworth lies 'twixt Congleton and Macclesfield. Polo, minority, schmimority.

elansprint72 Posted February 7, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted February 7, 2007 Any suggestions for the Liverpool date? Also, there must be more to "that Liverpool" than George's hall, Paddy's wigwam and the bit by the water, any ideas? Pete.
stunsworth Posted February 8, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 8, 2007 Pete, I'm not too fussed provided it's not over Easter.

jmr Posted February 8, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 8, 2007 Sunday 1st April is better for me. It seems a strangely apt date, given the antics of some in Chester
stunsworth Posted February 8, 2007 Share #13 Posted February 8, 2007 That weekend's ok, though I'd prefer the Sunday.
elansprint72 Posted February 8, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted February 8, 2007 How about 31 March / 1 April? Her Ladyship and I will be in East Anglia that week-end, thanks to a mountain of Holiday Inn points picked up whilst slumming it.
