cnguyen Posted January 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Let me start mine first - either a SWTE or the 28mm ASPH. I currently have lens ranges from 21mm to 135mm. the 28mm range I have is on my TE. On a SWTE - I don't shoot super wides that often. Besides that I not sure what to get with that 30% discount . Any suggestions ?

LJL Posted January 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2007 Charles, Two different strategies come to mind: 1) get the lens you need to use most, whether that be an "upgrade" from a Cron to a Lux for example, or, 2) get the lens you have been lusting for ;-) (I am thinking Noctilux here.) I am having trouble with merging the two strategies, and with only one lens per camera (purchased by 12/31/06), it is harder to choose. As I mentioned in another thread, folks still have five months to make this descision, so go out and shoot with everything you have for a while. Find what is missing or needs to be upgraded, and go from there. Cannot hurt. LJ

Giulio Zanni Posted January 30, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 30, 2007 What I need it doesn't exists yet, meaning a 28 1.4. For the moment I have all I need: 28 summicron and 50 noctilux. I would be happy to offer for free my discount to whoever needs a new lens. Giulio
Eoin Posted January 30, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) All of them if leica and my bank manager would allow Seriously though, the offer is tempting me into buying something I don't really need. My initial choice of lenses was a 2 lens setup, 35'lux and 75'cron, then I found the 35 just not wide enough so I got the 21 Elemarit. 75 proved to be too sharp for portrait so I found a cheap 50'cron to play with a view to swapping this out for a Noctilux which is supposed to be very 50 summicron in it's look from f/2 and smaller. So the 2 lens setup ended up being 4. My thoughts are now to sell the lot 21, 35, 50, 75 and replace them with a 28 f/2, Noctilux from the offer and 75 Summilux 2nd hand from somewhere and live with the short (37mm) range of the 28mm. So still 2 becomes 4, the 4 become 3 and the 3 weigh more than the 4, I just can't win!!
tbarker13 Posted January 30, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 30, 2007 28 summicron for me. Thought briefly about the 50 lux asph. (replacing my 50 lux) Decided to keep the 50 lux for portraits. The 28 summicron is one that I just haven't seen much of on the used market. And I loved the 35mm focal length with my M film cameras - so that's another argument for the 28 summicron. tom0511 Posted January 30, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 30, 2007 I wqs thinking to get the wate but not sure yet with the unknown behaviour regarding cyan correction. I find the 28/2.0 a very usefull lens, but allready have it;) I am also interested in the 75 cron or 90cron. Anyways, how long do we have time to choose? Is there a dead line? peterv Posted January 30, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 30, 2007 Just ordered the 28/2.0 Two months before I got my M8, I found the 50/1,4 PRE ASPH, the 90/2.0 PRE ASPH and 135/4.0 in one deal, second hand. So now I 'only' needed something on the short end I'm happy with the Leica offer; it saves me € 800 on the 28...
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 30, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 30, 2007 I've ordered the 75/2.0. I know I like the effective 100mm focal length (from using Olympus 50/2.0 with 2x factor). Was tempted by the 24/2.8. Anybody seen one of those used? scott
