wda Posted January 29, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 29, 2007 Svenning - The rare sand hibiscus. Lovely colors and details. The R60 lens is a marvel, isn't it? This is a beautiful flower and certainly resembles an hibiscus. But growing in sand? Can I believe that? Not even April 1st yet. David
svenning Posted January 30, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted January 30, 2007 Dear Stuart, PeterJ, Paul martino and David, Thank you for your kind comments to the flower picture :-)) Stuart - I love the Leitz 60mm Macro-Elmarit lens :-)) It produces the most accurate colours any lens ever can produce (!) I am so happy that I bought this lens :-)) Mister Askham - the Hibiscuss flowers dropped off the trees and landed in the sand on the island of Komandoo in the Maldives - I have attached a picture of the where-abouts :-)) All the best - Svenning, Denmark. leicamann Posted January 31, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 31, 2007 Color and detail is excellent.....it would also be nice to see this done with film, giving it a softer tone and touch. Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann
svenning Posted February 1, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted February 1, 2007 Dear John R. Mead, I agree with you - that the flower picture could have been better if shot on diapositive film. It has been a while since I have been shooting diapositive films :-)) What is your suggestion for the best film to use for flower pictures? Fujichrome or Kodak Ektachrome? All the best - Svenning, Denmark.
leicamann Posted February 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 1, 2007 Svenning, the best slide film is Kodaks E100G, Fuji Velvia 100F for flowers, and Fuji Reala or any of the Superia print films. Remember if your using the Leicaflex SL body and slide film, you'll need to find out if you need to cut the iso by 1/2. This is what I do, so for the 100 iso film I set the iso on my SL at 50 or 70 iso... the modern bodies like the R8 don't need this...this applies only to slide film and believe it or not does not apply to Kodachrome..weird eh. svenning Posted February 2, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted February 2, 2007 Dear John R. Mead, Thank you for the advise about which dia-positive films to use for flower pictures. However - John - I do not have a Leicaflex SL camera yet (!) I must use my R3 & R4 cameras instead, but I will keep the suggestion for the ISO setting in mind. Thank you again for your advise :-)) All the best - Svenning, Denmark.
robert_parker Posted February 2, 2007 Share #14 Posted February 2, 2007 Svenning The 60mm is a real revelation, adapting both to digital and film photography with ease and precision - it also doesen't seem to mind what sensor it's illuminating !! Is it true the sand hibiscus is in fact food for the famous Dragons ???
