lobrama Posted January 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a used M2 that is in good shape, except for one thing: the viewfinder seems to have an orange-brown tint to it. The rangefinder rectangle is clear and sharp, but the rest of the viewfinder has that weird color. My M3 viewfinder appears to be slightly on the blue side, so I'm not sure if I have a problem here, or a potential problem, or if this is nothing to worry about. Anybody deal with this before? The viewfinder on my M2 is slightly "cooler" than reality but not really bluish. The body was CLA'd by DAG less than a year ago, but it never had an orange-brown tint to it. pendevour Posted January 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2007 My M2 viewfinder shows as a fairly neutral grey - just a little darker than reality. I've not come across what you describe.
doubice Posted January 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2007 Same here - the M2 finder is just a touch 'darker' or 'bluer' than the M3 or M4. Should not have an orange/brown tint. You should try looking through the finder from the front, against a strong source of light and look for irregularities, like separation or unusual haze. My M2 had the same condition. The vf was a bit dark and off color. It was certainly usable like that. When I had my M2 cla'd I asked the tech to look at the vf. She gave it a cleaning and it came back bright and clear and like new. I would have a cla done just for that difference. Bob
