jmr Posted January 28, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 28, 2007 Svenning, Â I guess that's why it's called "the blue hour". Ace shot btw.
gverdon Posted January 28, 2007 Share #5  Posted January 28, 2007 A beautiful - but very artificial - blue, for me (in fact, looks more like a huge cast...). Nevertheless, I still could spend a week there...  Gérald
svenning Posted January 29, 2007 Author Share #6 Â Posted January 29, 2007 Dear Gerald Verdon, Â Yes - it is a huge colour cast :-)) Â The white balance on the digital camera was set for "Tungsten"-light which made the electric lights correct, but the rest of the scene turned out "blue". Â A little cheating maybe? However I hope it created the right mood? Â All the best - Svenning, Denmark.
lightpainter Posted January 29, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Svenning , I like the first one better, because the colour intensity is really a tool with that picture
stuny Posted January 29, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 29, 2007 Svenning - Â I much prefer the other-worldly look of the un adjusted first version. Wonderful light, color, contrast and composition.
gverdon Posted January 29, 2007 Share #9  Posted January 29, 2007 Svenning, please don't misinterpret my comments as a plaiding in favour of some technical purity... ;-) My point is not the huge colour cast, but rather the fact it looks like it. I'm pretty sure you could obtain the very same effect and mood (and your wonderful blue) without the veiling blue over the black and dark tones... (play around with layers).  But If I had to choose I also would prefer the first one, second version is way too real to sell the place.  Gérald
svenning Posted January 29, 2007 Author Share #10 Â Posted January 29, 2007 Dear Gerald Verdon, Â Thank you for your kind reply :-)) Â I remember when I was shooting dia-positive films - Kodak Ectachrome 160 Tungsten - I always shot pictures in the Blue hour by that film. So when I bought myself a digital camera - I was happy to find out - that I could create the same effect by choosing the Tungsten white balance. Â Photo-Life has become easy by using digital cameras :-)) Â All the best - Svenning, Denmark.
