Jager Posted January 27, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use Photoshop for significant image editing. I've used (and liked) ACR since its introduction a few years ago as a basic RAW pre-processor. I like the integration of PS, Bridge, and ACR. Â With my M8, however, I find image quality - particularly color - to be noticeably better under the C1LE software which was bundled with the camera than with ACR (specifically, the CS3 beta version on an Intel Mac). Enough so that I'lm thinking of moving to C1 Pro as my RAW pre-processor. Â My question is regarding noise reduction. Looking at the spec sheet for C1 Pro I see it has a noise reduction feature. Can anyone comment on how that compares with Noise Ninja or Neat Image? Â TIA. Â Jeff

scott kirkpatrick Posted January 27, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 27, 2007 There's a rather nice overall sharpening tool with two modes (soft and hard), which I like, but I save C1's noise tools for emergency use. The M8 profiles have quite a bit of color noise removal set as a default, the amount depending on the ISO. I usually turn that off before producing output. There are two special noise removal tools, for posterization (it says they add a little noise -- if you ever do have posterization with the M8's 8-bit raw files, this is the way to fix it), and a pattern noise removal tool that has seen use in some other Kodak ccd cameras. Â Does anyone know how to adjust defaults in the C1 profiles so that i don't have to adjust them for every shot? Â scott
