sparkie Posted January 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yep, battery charging still... but first problem is the frameline selector is stuck at the 24 & 35mm pair. Have mounted 4 other lenses of different FL's to try to dislodge a stuck or sticky mech. No luck. Stuck on 24 & 35. Dont really want to have to send it back THIS early. And its the 2nd revision Anyone else experience this?

carstenw Posted January 27, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2007 I haven't. Have you tried jiggling the frame selector lever?
sparkie Posted January 27, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 27, 2007 I haven't. Have you tried jiggling the frame selector lever? yes (but still no luck), sorry; what i meant is that the frameline selector lever moves from left to right ok, just that the finder framelines aren't changing in correspondence. I've had this problem before with my M2 and M6's before
Shootist Posted January 27, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 27, 2007 I noticed a little stickyness wioth the frame line selector when I first got the M8. It was a very cold day here in Atlanta and the camera body was COLD to the touch. Once I mounted several lenses and fooled with the selector lever and the body warmed up everthing is work correctly. Although I do have a slight back focus problem with the 50 f/2 I tested with at about a 3 foot distance.
JGW Posted January 27, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 27, 2007 When I returned home from a shoot, I noticed my frameline selector lever had fallen off! I don't ever remember it being loose. As this doesn't seem to have happened to anybody elses, here's my camera so eveyone can see what it looks like without it. It's a nice brass colour underneath! Another lever is being sent from Germany for me. JGW

JGW JGW, there was a report by another person at this forum (I think it I was this forum) who used a loaned M8 from a camera shop and when he returned it the frame selector was gone. JGW Posted January 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 28, 2007 JGW, there was a report by another person at this forum (I think it I was this forum) who used a loaned M8 from a camera shop and when he returned it the frame selector was gone. So this has happened to at least one other person Furrukh I think that might have been me. I was about to post my M8 picture on to the thead I'd started on M8 build quality on the 24th, Jan. I think,- http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/14483-m8-build-quality.html?highlight=build+quality -but I noticed this thread on frameline problems. I can remember the frameline lever being a little stiff and the framelines sticking a little when I'd just got the camera. But I put this down to newness and it eventually freed up. It was about a week later that I noticed the lever missing. JGW.
khanosu Posted January 28, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 28, 2007 I think that might have been me. JGW. Yes, it was you! I recognized the thread from your post. My bad. So it seems that you are the only reported person who has lost the frame selector Furrukh
JGW Posted January 28, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 28, 2007 So it seems that you are the only reported person who has lost the frame selector Furrukh In the whole world! Well I have had a terrible start to the new year in many other ways, a bit off subject to go into here, but I suppose the camera wanted to join in too! It makes the above image quite rare then?! JGW.
