Jager Posted January 27, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2007 No, there are no differences. One point to bear in mind with many of the bought-new, 2nd-gen units is that they probably came from the same production run as the 1st-gen models. For example, based on its early serial number, I'm fairly certain my 2nd-gen sample, purchased on January 6th, is from that original production run. When the banding issues emerged, Leica froze M8 sales and asked that all units - those already sold to customers as well as those still unsold - be returned for the sensor board fix. At the same time, Leica applied the changes to their manufacturing line. So you've really got three kinds of samples out there: 1) units sold to customers, returned to Solms for the fix; 2) unsold units from the initial production run(s), returned to Solms for the fix; 3) later production runs which already incorporate the fix. Since the same thing is being done for all three groups, it's all good.... Jeff
