POKO Posted January 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Well, my excitement was a bit diminished when I noticed these stripes on my files. They are in the exact same spot on all files, but grow in intesity when the ASA is cranked up. These were shot raw, processed out as tiffs and converted to jpg's for the purpose of this posting. I think I saw others with the same problem. Any thoughts or do I just send it straight from my hands back into the hands of Leica? Welcome, dear visitor! Can you please, send me a note who was your dealer. I see you are from T.O. and since I am waiting on my M8, just curious where did you get yours? I am also worried since there is no service for Leica here in the city any more. Please, keep me posted... I hope it all works out.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 26, 2007 What raw processor software did you use. Can you see the DNG file without processing
POKO Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted January 26, 2007 Hi, 1) I bought the camera from a store in the US - couldn't wait for a local dealer to get on. 2) I can see it on the raw file on the camera as well. It was processed in C1 Pro. Thanks
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2007 Is this one file or many. Trying to figure what you have going on here . Also did you try a different SD card if not do and format it in-camera
POKO Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Guy, The five files are from left to right 160asa, 320asa, 640asa, 1250asa and 2500asa. The images are the full height of a horizontal image. I did try re-formatting the card, with no change. I also re-installed the firmware. I will try another card once the battery has charged. The stripe is approx. 1/5th of the way into the frame from the left. Hope this is a software problem and not a hardware problem. Thanks for thinking about this. Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hmmm not liking the looks of this. Not the shutter because it goes vertical. Maybe the processing engine is not kicking in on that side but i think it is only 2 channels not 5 . That vertical band in the middle of it is getting brighter because of the sensitivty to light which makes me think sensor. Let's see what a change in card will do if any. Keep us posted
POKO Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted January 26, 2007 Tried another card, and nothing changed. It's there on jpgs and on raw files. Guess I should forward these to Leica and see what they say... Per
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 26, 2007 Yes and your dealer. i would call him first thing. Not sure what this is, but it is looking like the sensor

marknorton Posted January 26, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 26, 2007 Per, if you take a picture with the lens cap on (say, 1/8 second at ISO 2500), do you see just the bright line? How many pixels wide is it? If so, I think you have what's called a Saturation Column Defect and according to information on the Kodak web-site, no such defects should pass QA... Saturated Columns: "A column that deviates by more then 100mV above neighbouring columns under non-illuminated conditions. No saturated columns are allowed". Looks to me like you need a replacement camera or your camera needs a new sensor.
mike prevette Posted January 26, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 26, 2007 Mark, The above test might not give honest results due to the noise reduction kicking in at speeds below 1/30th. _mike
bayerische Posted January 26, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 26, 2007 A dead row of pixels... Damn, Leica = Quality=?
POKO Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted January 26, 2007 Hi, Thanks for the input. Did the check, and yes the stripe is there. Contacted Leica last night and they already responded with some more questions for me. Hope to get this resolved soon... Here is the black sample - line is pretty clear... Per Welcome, dear visitor!
