troyfreund Posted January 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody out there using their DMR tethered to a computer? I might need to do so for an upcoming shoot and was wondering how easy or trying it is. Any thoughts? Thanks, Troy

JeffWright Posted January 25, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2007 Anybody out there using their DMR tethered to a computer? I might need to do so for an upcoming shoot and was wondering how easy or trying it is. Any thoughts? Thanks, Troy I've tried it, using Flexcolor. On my older Mac G4 Powerbook, it's too slow to be useful, frankly. I quickly went back to shooting to cards.
bill_green Posted January 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2007 x2 The only reason to shoot tethered is if you have an creative director looking over your shoulder who needs to see what every shot looks like. Otherwise, chalk it up to things that you can do, but shouldn't.
MarkSaperstein Posted January 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2007 I agree with the others that it is not an ideal setup, but it can be helpful. On some recent shoots, I shot some test shots tethered to check out details on the computer and show the client, then switched to the SD card for the rest of the time. Unfortunately, Flexcolor is slow and awkward.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2007 I have but it is with Flexcolor which i hate so gave it up. BTW if you shoot in Flex you have to develop in Flex unless you run it through the DNG converter. Now this may have changed but that was the way it was. bill_green Posted January 26, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2007 Do you know if there is a way to tether into a watched folder and have the files pop up in bridge, or something like that? That might be a lot less painful.
