Are the Leica lenses's Leica/Panasonic models, made in Germany?

Panasonic lenses used to be manufactured in Japan, or at least they were when I was visiting Panasonic’s Yamagata factory a couple of years ago and watched the lenses being ground. At a recent press event in January, Panasonic claimed they were still manufacturing most camera parts themselves – lenses (and memory cards) in their Yamagata factory, sensors in Tonami, processors (Venus Engine) in Uozu, and camera assembly in Fukushima.

From what I understand, Panasonic camera bodies like the GH2 sold locally in Japan are made in Japan, no English language support. Those sold internationally are all made in China.

Now I am not sure if it is the same for lenses.

I have both the Lumix G1 and GF1 along with two different lenses. All were UK sourced and have English firmware, all are marked Made in Japan. The quality is high and the results are excellent, I'm glad they are not marked Leica as this would increase the price
