Advertisement Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hi elansprint72, Take a look here GT40s return to Le Mans. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted January 25, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2007 Pete - Beautiful. Notice that it has the bulge in the door top first placed there for Dan Gurney's helmet.
neila Posted January 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2007 40th anniversary wasn't it Pete? A great event...... I'd love to have the correct technique (I mean, how to, rather than refine an existing technique) to capture the cars at night with the glowing discs. You've got some great shots from the event - a shame we didn't get to meet up down there.
steed Posted January 25, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2007 note:the bubble in the cockpit for Gurney was not in a standard GT40 such as this, it was in the Mark IV version in which he won at LeMans. This bubble was for another tall driver. JohnW
elansprint72 Posted January 25, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 25, 2007 40th anniversary wasn't it Pete? Neil, You are absolutely WRONG. I recently knocked ten years off my age, so it was the 30th- OK? They are announcing the date for 08 at Retromobile in a few weeks; maybe we could make it a Leica dudes get-together? There are more than a few GT30s (!) with what became known as the Gurney Bulge, and even more with a Gurney Flap. Thanks, Pete.
