sps Posted January 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like the front & rear grip bumps. I'm wondering how they are in real life.
Advertisement Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hi sps, Take a look here Anyone using the protector case #14879?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted January 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2007 Out of interest, could you post a link to Leica's webpage? I can't find it.
marknorton Posted January 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 24, 2007 Here's a link: Leica Camera AG - Photography - Camera Protector for M8 I bought a couple as an alternative to the grip but I think the grip is better. They are nicely made, provide the finger and thumb rest but getting to the card and battery is a bit of a hassle. They make the thumb wheel on the back more difficult to use. carstenw Posted January 24, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2007 But that is the 14869, not 14879? Someone on this board had one and really liked it.

Englander Posted January 25, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mark, How is the case fitted to the camera? Is it attached at the bottom? Do the eyelets jam through the side? Thanks, Joe
marknorton Posted January 25, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 25, 2007 There's no attachment at the bottom, the sides are cut to wrap around the strap lugs so that it effectively hangs off the strap lugs. It's quite a tight fit and would likely stay in place without them. It provides a decent grip for the camera plus of course it's protected when you put it down on something.. The main downside is that it has to come off to replace the card or the battery. From the point of view of holding the camera in use, the grip is better, but this provides protection which the grip does not, so there's room for both. It's about £55/€80/$110, so not too expensive. The full case, which is more hassle - because you cannot remove the "floppy" bit - is more than double the price.
