Advertisement Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Hi John Moran-Ireland, Take a look here M2 Top plate.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted February 8, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2011 It's almost impossible to get rid of such "personalisations". If you really want to get rid of them, Leica in Solms can probably replace the plate with a new one, with your serial number etc. It's worth asking, but will probably cost you as much as the whole M2 did. However, if you get a CLA done at the same time, your camera will be good for another 50 years.

250swb Posted February 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 8, 2011 Send the camera to a restorer, have them strip the chrome off, have the scratch filled with solder, then have it all painted black? Steve
ismon Posted February 8, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2011 Sometimes there are top plates available (among other parts) for sale on ebay. An independent repairman can replace the top during a CLA. Different serial #, but it works.
rob139 Posted February 8, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 8, 2011 What are the initials exactly? If it says HCB for instance, one can consider leaving it as it is. Rob
tdtaylor Posted February 8, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) It might be worth inquiring with DAG ( DAG Camera Parts ) if they have any used parts for this camera. Their "parts" are quite extensive.
