Thought i would pass it on if you have not seen it yet “We are pleased to inform you that the 6-bit Coding Promotion for customers who buy an M lens has been extended to June 30, 2007. All customers who purchase an M lens will get two vouchers, each worth $125 to get 2 M-lenses 6-bit coded. The customer will receive the vouchers only after he or she has registered the new M lens.” All good news there

Unless it has a expiration date on the voucher it is good forever. Someone on this forum must of already receoved one of these vouchers so all they have to do is look on it and se if there is a expiration date. carstenw Posted January 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2007 Argh, could Leica please extend this to Europe? I have a single uncoded lens (35/2 Asph), and I am about to buy two more new coded lenses (28/2 Asph and 75/2 Asph). I would love an opportunity to get my last lens done. John Maio Posted January 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 24, 2007 they are printed with an expiration date of June 30, 2007. I see the announcement on the Leica site here: Leica Camera AG - M lenses with 6-bit coding Do the actual vouchers come from the dealer or is there a form to fill in? I recall there was a PDF folder detailing the procedure, but I can't find it now.
thisaccountisdeleted Posted January 24, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 24, 2007 Do the actual vouchers come from the dealer or is there a form to fill in? I recall there was a PDF folder detailing the procedure, but I can't find it now. nothing to fill out. send in a copy of the receipt along with your warranty card and a note asking for the vouchers. the vouchers (about the size of a #10 envelope) should be included with the warranty registration that you get back ~4 weeks later. they expire 6/30/2007 and they are non-transferable. lenses will only be shipped back to the address pre-written on the voucher. they don't say that you actually have to _own_ the lens that you send in.. colorflow Posted January 24, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 24, 2007 Does this also include a new lens bought from Leica with the 1/3 off? (if the rest of us ever get the new US price list...)
Shootist Posted January 25, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 25, 2007 Does this also include a new lens bought from Leica with the 1/3 off? (if the rest of us ever get the new US price list...) As the one third off deal is directly from Leica Germany I doubt it includes the coding voucher. That is a Leica USA deal.
thisaccountisdeleted Posted January 25, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 25, 2007 As the one third off deal is directly from Leica Germany I doubt it includes the coding voucher. That is a Leica USA deal. i guess it depends on whether it comes with a receipt and a leica usa passport warranty card.
doug_m Posted January 25, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 25, 2007 The 30% lenses must come with some kind of a receipt. Does anyone know if these lenses come with a Passport warranty ? Since Leica USA is apparantly involved in "administering" this 30% discount program it would be great if they gave us the Passport. I have previously corresponded directly with Roger Horn about the lack of any Passport warranty for the M8. He was very sympathetic to this concern but stated the decision to not provide an M8 Passport came from Solms. Perhaps the lack of an M8 Passport might prompt a Passport for the discounted lenses as a goodwill gesture. Some of us have already bought or are planning to buy a second M8. Mutual loyalty/ goodwill should be appreciated by all concerned.
Artichoke Posted January 25, 2007 Share #15 Posted January 25, 2007 the only lens I could get coded is a 75 mm and I don't think the advantage of coding plays much of a role with a telephoto ...I got this used do you think it worth the bother of having to part with a lens for what may be weeks if it is not a wide angle? dannirr Posted January 25, 2007 Share #16 Posted January 25, 2007 I just bought the WATE (full price unfortunately!) - there was nothing with it to offer lens coding for other lenses. I guess I can contact Leica, but all my lenses have been sent for coding with the required payment already. Danni
Jager Posted January 25, 2007 Share #17 Posted January 25, 2007 Thanks Guy, this is terrific news! I've got a Summicron 28 ASPH on order from Tony Rose (and currently have several M lenses which need coding) so this is most welcome!
