wparsonsgisnet Posted January 24, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) One reason I keep the wider (24) lens on the M8 is that there is so much resolution, I can grab more shots and just crop them. Â It looks like the predominance of users are in the 21-28 range.

carstenw Posted January 24, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted January 24, 2007 Alexander, I prefer the 35/2 Asph to the non-Asph, even though I have never tried the latter I have the former, and it is a great lens. I love the drawing of it, and nearly always shoot it wide open. I will have to try yours one day to see what you mean.
j. borger Posted January 24, 2007 Share #23 Â Posted January 24, 2007 My favorite: Summicron 35/2 (IV) pre-asph, i think this lens draws better (nicer) than the asph version... (i had an asph but sold it, and bought the pre-asph instead...) For the same reason i use the 35 lux pre-asph more than the 35 cron asph. Stopped down a bit the lux pre-aph draws about the same as the cron iV. Â My favourite focal length on the M8 is 50mm however .... lux asph or nocti ..... Â 21mm elmarit and 75 lux get little to no use.
Jager Posted January 26, 2007 Share #24 Â Posted January 26, 2007 The first week, my Noctilux and 50 Cron spent most the time on the camera. I like a 50mm FOV a lot (the 50 Cron spent 98% of the time on my M6, the first year or so I owned Leica). On the M8, of course, the 50's start to morph into a short-telephoto and although I still like the FOV, it's not quite as appealing to me as a true 50 provides. Which is a long way of saying that I'm back to my much-beloved 35 Lux ASPH. That's been my dedicated lens most of the last couple of weeks. With the crop factor on the M8, I still want to go wider, which is why I have a 28 Cron on order. My guess is that, once that arrives, that may edge out the 35 Lux in terms of time spent on-camera. Â My 90 Elmarit has yet to get an at-bat on the M8 (no particular reason - it's a great lens). Â One observation: the immediacy of the M8 makes it a lot of fun for experimenting a bit with those more-specialized lenses in our bags. My Noctilux has gotten exercised quite a bit more than it did on my M6 or M7, for instance. Â Jeff
deoman Posted January 26, 2007 Share #25  Posted January 26, 2007 I just got my M8 this week and have little experience so far, but on the M6 I used the Tri-Elmar the most and would be surprised if this was not also true on the M8. The next most used lens would be the 90mm Macro Elmar,  Regards  Dennis O'Reilly

grantray Posted January 26, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted January 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Impossible to choose. I'm shooting with an early 21 elmarit, 50 planar, and 90 summicron. If I'm on the streets, the 21 is king; but indoors, the 50 and 90 are constantly traded out according to the opportunity. Â -grant
