I see you are in Montreal, where did you order from? I went to the M8 demo at Camtec back at the end of Oct or beggining of Nov and decided to get one. I ordered it then and got it within a couple of weeks. I don't know if they have been getting more in but I haven't had a problem getting extra battery, grip or lenses.

I did exactly the same thing, at the same dealer's. I ordered mine two days after the M8 demo day, and that was early November. I am surprised to learn that you got yours so quickly when, in fact, we ordered at the almost exact same time. I did insist on a black one, but still. Hmm...

I ordered and paid for a M8 on Sunday, December 31 from a dealer in the east coast. At the time, the pricing situation of the lens for U.S. buyers was not clear. But I bought M8 by faith. I am glad that I did it because of the free filters and the attractive lens price.

What dealer did you buy from? At that time I was checking every online dealer every day and most of the time 3 or 4 times a day.

I think he may have preordered 5 or 6 and I was lucky enough to get one of those. I also told him that I didn't care if it was silver or black.

I bought my M8 one week after the offer ended. Much as I'd like to have the 30% offer, I used the same rationale as shootist - not wanting to be wedded to a particular dealer for who knows how long. As it turned out, the dealer where I finally found one was one I'd never heard of, never been to, and probably never will go to again (too far away). But I'm far more delighted to have the camera in hand than be worrying about the 30% offer. Everyone knew what the deal was with that. It was intended to help compensate those who purchased the 1st-gen models and then had to send them back to Solms. Those of us who got the 2nd-gen model really shouldn't be complaining - we've not had to do without our cameras for so much as a day.
