stuny Posted January 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) In my long-winded response to Neil in my “Evil Spirit” thread in the People section I mentioned that children in Papua New Guinea frequently engulfed us when we arrived in small villages, making it difficult to get individual photos of people. Below are two examples of that excitement plus an example of some villages clearly not getting many visitors. Before long I’ll post some individual shots taken with some difficulty in these crowds. biglouis Posted January 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2007 Stuart Your trademark excellent pictures communicate all the excitement and joy of these children while being photographed. Fantastic, hope to see more. LouisB
martinop Posted January 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 24, 2007 Like the spontaneous reactions and composition in #3.
arminw Posted January 24, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 24, 2007 Stuart - nice pictures again! I love No. one .. you can see the excitement in the children's faces, what a feast for the eye. Thanks for sharing Armin
samwells Posted January 24, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2007 It's really uplifting to see such enthusiasm portrayed...no. 1 especially. And No. 3 is almost like a frieze...and I like the cut-off figures at each end, as if the line-up goes on forever. Thanx for showing. cheers: Sam
Peter41951 Posted January 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 24, 2007 I like the open happy smiling faces of the first two, and the third picture with such a variety of expressions.
johnwolf Posted January 24, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stuart, Love the exuberance, color, and technical quality of all of them, but especially the composition and cropping of the third. Overgaard Posted January 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2007 Interesting to see the DMR at work under these circumstances - light and tone. I like it because it reminds me very much of slide film. Which lens did you use?
gverdon Posted January 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 24, 2007 Stuart, maybe the most interesting series from you I've seen here. Life, motion and emotions. First one is beautiful and captivating, last one is stunning. Gérald
jmr Posted January 24, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 24, 2007 Stuart, numbers 1 and 2 are fantastic. You just have to smile wildly back at them
azzo Posted January 25, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 25, 2007 Stuart..fantastic ! The 3rd is the strongest of all IMHO. I would try a crop from the top till ABOVE the stretched out arm to close the image, to enhance the natural diagonal angle. Well seen and captured, all three Stuart. neila Posted January 25, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 25, 2007 You keep doing this!! Excellent. Love one and two - can't decide which I like better. Maybe two for even greater sense of fun - but you need to have seen one first! Lovely shots again. What great looking kids too - I'm almost tempted to say to my daughter (who's about that age) "see, you don't need a Nintendo to enjoy life!!". stuny Posted January 25, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted January 25, 2007 Big, Martin, Armin, Peter, Gerald, John R and Neil - Thank you. Their exuberance was almost intoxicating. Thorsten - Thank you. I used the frequently maligned 28-70, which accounts for 60 to 65% of my photos. I don't understand why people complain about this lens. Perhaps it's due to its less-than-setllar pedigree: Designed by Leica but made by a Japanese 3rd party (Sigma, I think). Sam & John - Thank you. I liked the cut-off but wondered if Forum members would find it disturbing. I guess not. Ivan - As always, an excellent idea regarding your crop suggestion. Hopefully I'll have time to try it tonight and post the results on this thread right afterwards. You'll be asleep then.
