cidereye Posted January 28, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just picked up another M8 this morning from a local camera shop, went online and logged into my Leica Customer A/C to register the camera eager to see if the previous owner had claimed his 2 free UV/IR filters but it comes up on their system as registered to another owner still and it will not let me register the camera at all. Now surely this must happen all the time with previous owners simply forgetting to delete cameras from their portfolio, I should know I've even forgotten to do this myself twice now. So the question is how can I sort this situation out? Is it worth contacting Leica and can they just delete the previous owner?

spylaw4 Posted January 28, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2011 If it is registered they will know who has done so. I had trouble registering a pre-owned lens which was already registered and CS at Solms sorted it out (CS-SW-Support <CS-SW-Support_at_leica-camera.com>). They may want sight of proof of purchase. Luke_Miller Posted January 28, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 28, 2011 They may want sight of proof of purchase. I had to send them a photo of my M8.2 flash shoe (which has the serial number) as proof of purchase.
microview Posted January 28, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2011 Just picked up another M8 this morning from a local camera shop, went online and logged into my Leica Customer A/C to register the camera eager to see if the previous owner had claimed his 2 free UV/IR filters but it comes up on their system as registered to another owner still and it will not let me register the camera at all. I seem to remember something similar when trying to register M9; problem was caused because serial number in paperwork had one extra (superfluous) digit. Using the seven engraved numbers on the hot shoe solved the issue.

Did just this and was sorted for me today by Leica. Thanks
