marknorton Posted January 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got a box of bits and pieces from Leica Berlin today: - Grip, much improved handling - Leica wide leather strap. nice but expensive and not sure the strap protectors will do their job. - Camera protector, alternative to the grip with front and rear finger rests, you won't be changing battery or card in a hurry. - Neoprene case - Great to protect the camera ("Second Skin") if you just want to throw it in a weekend bag. The larger size allows the M8 with Nocti AND either the grip or the camera protector to be fitted. Useful and inexpensive.

mike prevette Posted January 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2007 I use a $15 Neoprene for all my cameras. I think I have like five of the suckers. They are great. I even leave the cameras in them when they are in my traveling pellican. _mike

dennersten Posted January 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2007 Artist and Artisans make a small pouch type case - http://www.artisanandartist.com/acc/acamrina.htm Does it take a noct? A handgrip?
jaapv Posted January 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 24, 2007 I can only confirm, Mark - indeed a second skin. And it takes a few extra CD cards and an extra battery without really getting bulkier. Noctilux it should - it takes the TE+hood. Grip -quite possibly
MP3 Posted January 24, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 24, 2007 I just got one, great soft case indeed. Hi Håkan, I read somewhere (before I bought it) that the long version of the neoprene case can house a Nocti and the handgrip at the same time. Beware there are 2 versions, one for long lens (60-80mm) and one for shorter lens. BTW its elastic nature shall give some margin at least. Cheers Matthew
marknorton Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted January 24, 2007 Matthew, are you speaking of the Leica one or the Artisan one? Here in Europe, distribution of A&A is hopeless and shipping and "handling" rules out getting it from the US. The Leica one comes in two sizes - I bought one of each and there's not much difference, so I would always go for the larger one.
MP3 Posted January 24, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 24, 2007 Mark, I'm speaking of the Leica ones. I read the A&A goodies from their websites and I use one of their camera bag. Some of their items are available at my photo equippment shop, their bags and sacs are of quite high qualities. Best Matthew
doug_m Posted January 25, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 25, 2007 I have been using the regular size Leica brand neoprene case with my M8 since Nov. 7. It is great and fits the M8 and lenses up to the 75 mm F2 AA with a filter and lens cap attached. The 75 F2 on an M8 is about the max size for the regular size neoprene case which actually stretches a bit to fit this lens; however, the large case is much too big and floppy unless using larger lenses. The regular case is perfect for the 50 1.4 ASPH and a good fit for the 28 F2 ASPH with the stock lens hood as well. I would try the regular neoprene case with the Nocti before buying the large case but do not have a Nocti myself. For $75 the Leica neoprene case can not be beat. george + Posted January 25, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 25, 2007 Looked good - and my dealer had a small one - so I went and got it. The M8 with handgrip and with the Voigtlander 21mm viewer fits well and there is room in front of the cv 15.
dennersten Posted January 26, 2007 Share #15 Posted January 26, 2007 I got to praise the handgrip also. It's just perfect now when it's cold and using gloves.
Venkman Posted January 26, 2007 Share #16 Posted January 26, 2007 I was surprised to read about "the larger Neocase being way too large" - I had them both on the counter with my dealer and we both wondered why the larger one is just about 2 cm more space in length - virtually nothing at all? So now I wonder if there is probably a margin in sizes? I went for the large one, which fits both, the 28 Elmarit with hood and the 50 summi with hood, nicely. Dirk. marknorton Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #17 Posted January 26, 2007 I agree, I don't really know why they went to the trouble of having two sizes. If you're going for one, get the larger one.
