freddylarsen Posted January 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have anybody experienced this with the M8 ? In every picture taken indoors with fluorescent light? Outdoor NO problem. 2 days ago I got exactly the same problem as Sean Reid - http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/14145-uh-oh-me-too.html I have now sent the camera back to my dealer in Oslo, and they have promised me to send a new camera. Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2007 Looks like you have a light leak and it is reflecting the sensor, what lens and did you try other lenses
freddylarsen Posted January 23, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2007 50 mm summicron - iso 320, but I have the same problem even with iso 160 - as I mention, I don´t have this problem shooting outdoor - only when I´m shooting indoor with fluorescent light. blakley Posted January 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2007 Wow, that is exceedingly strange. Does look like some sort of internal reflection.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 23, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2007 Yes it does . Do you have a different lens to try and where you fully mounted
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 23, 2007 Those are little cells of pattern noise, not internal reflections which would have rounder edges. How are you setting your white balance? AWB or manually setting the WB to tungsten when indoors, to daylight when outdoors. WB seems like the thing which would be strictly different when outdoors vs indoors. Depending on your practices with white balance, you might shoot outside with tungsten white balance or whatever the EXIF tells you you have indoors) and see if the problem moves outdoors then. (If you still have access to the camera.) scott

freddylarsen Posted January 23, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted January 23, 2007 My WB on auto - indoors/outdoors. I have only the 50 mm Summicron, but have in order the 21mm Elmarit and 35mm Summicron. Freddy Larsen Norway
trs Posted January 23, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2007 I remember getting similar affect while I was in Paris with my Fuji S2Pro. It turned out to be low battery. Would it be that in this case? -tanka
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 23, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 23, 2007 Maybe something may be wrong with the 50 cron not sure but I would inspect it. Not sure what you have going on but always good to do the process of elimination. Glad the dealer is sending a new M8 . Keep us posted
freddylarsen Posted January 23, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted January 23, 2007 Guy, I have tried everything - up and down, but the same thing is happening all the time - remember I also got the same problem as Sean Reid described in his thread http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/14145-uh-oh-me-too.html My M8 is sent away. Thanks for your comments. Freddy Larsen Norway

Iron Flatline Posted January 23, 2007 Share #13 Posted January 23, 2007 Sheesh, I swear I'm afraid to touch my camera these days. I'm just waiting for something to wrong with it....
Riley Posted January 23, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 23, 2007 it surely is pretty weird is it only that light source i notice an overhead spot reflecting on the glass prismatic aberation ? consistent clue is the size of the aberation and a set of colours
atufte Posted January 23, 2007 Share #15 Posted January 23, 2007 My WB on auto - indoors/outdoors. I have only the 50 mm Summicron, but have in order the 21mm Elmarit and 35mm Summicron. sean_reid Posted January 23, 2007 Share #18 Posted January 23, 2007 Visually, this is probably my favorite of the quirks so far. <G> It's either surrealism or a message from space men. Cheers, Sean

sean_reid Posted January 23, 2007 Share #20 Posted January 23, 2007 You know, as a fan of a certain kind of contemporary art, I kinda liked the potential shown here... JC I was thinking that someone might want that specific camera just so it will show those patterns. Also, perhaps the failure here is not so much the camera but more our inability to decode what the spacemen are trying to tell us in these pictures. Where's Duchamp when we need him? Cheers, Sean
