jaapv Posted January 24, 2007 Share #106 Â Posted January 24, 2007 Mine was not on a tripod when it died. It has been on one from time to time before that. It is one of those basalt Gitzo tripods, and the ballhead is lightweight material. SD cards are Sandisk Ultra II 1Gb and 2 Gb and Sandisk Extreme 2GB. doug_m Posted January 25, 2007 Share #112 Â Posted January 25, 2007 1. One M8 purchased Nov 7. 2. No failures except the camera went dead once while I was using it in cold weather and I suspect the battery died . As soon as I changed the battery at home it worked fine. The dead battery has since been recharged many times without any problems. My camera is first gen. and still with 1.06 firmware. Â Â The only other problem I have had is that sometimes the LCD screen changes brightness in a flickering pattern that is annoying but otherwise of no consequence. It has done so since almost the beginning and the problem is not getting worse. I will ask that this be fixed when it gets sent back to Solms but I am not in any hurry to send it to Germany just yet. Jamie Roberts Posted January 25, 2007 Share #114  Posted January 25, 2007 1. 1--first generation, 1.06 then 1.09 firmware 2. No, not so far  I should mention, FWIW, that the battery does seem to die very, very quickly when it goes, and the indicator doesn't seem to follow the battery down very well. So I have run out of juice when I didn't expect it...
davidmires Posted January 25, 2007 Share #115  Posted January 25, 2007 1. 1, first generation 2. yes, it has crashed for no apparent reason. 3. yes  I'll second what Jamie noted about the battery going out. Mine goes out while showing one bar. No warning whatsoever, and the camera freezes. If it was writing a file, tough luck, that file is lost... I have just been charging frequently to avoid this problem.
