Just received my copy of the latest issue of BJP in which Jonathan Eastland has been busy. One article discusses Kodak's new Portra 400. After a characteristic JE opening, written in his unique style, on the history of colour negative film and scanning Jonathan turns to the new Portra 400. As I read it JE supports Kodak's recommendation of this film for portrait and social event photography and supports claims that grain is noticeably improved, but prefers Ektar for general purpose photography, unless light is low. Jonathan also has articles on the M9, the new 35mm Summilux 1.4 and the Voigtlander 90/3.5 Apo-Lanthar SL II Close Focus for DSLRs.
