andybarton Posted January 22, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 22, 2007 On this last one, you can really see the sand being blown through the gate. (Might have gone a bit heavy on the vignette effect, but I like it)
lxtc Posted January 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2007 Great pics, the last one is simply magic, wow
ddp Posted January 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2007 Andy, The third one is gorgeous. Stunning image.
Rolo Posted January 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 22, 2007 Andy, I quite like the first, don't care much for the second, but the third is OUTfrigginSTANDING !! Well done. Love it. Best I've seen from you by a long way. Love the tones and the life in the image. WOW. DMR catch up with the M2 . :D
andybarton Posted January 22, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, guys. I nearly didn't bother scanning the third one... I would have loved to have got the 19 on the DMR out there...
Guest xxl-user Posted January 22, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 22, 2007 andy, the pictures (especially #1 and most #3) are really outstanding! congratulations! arnold
christoph_d Posted January 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 22, 2007 Hi Andy,I quite like your pictures, and to me the last one is the best too. I imagine however, that , as a print they must be outstanding.Kind regards, C.
elansprint72 Posted January 22, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 22, 2007 Oy-vey! Guess your equipment is now sparkling silver due to the sand-blasting? Well shot, Sir!
jmr Posted January 22, 2007 Share #11 Posted January 22, 2007 Andy, all really good. The third has a wonderful, film-set look, as if it's painted on glass.
stuny Posted January 22, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 22, 2007 Andy - All are superb for their content, composition, tonal range and details. #3 is my favorite, but I really like all of them. The only thing I'd change would be to reduce the height of 1 & 2 to 580 pixels so that I could see them completely without scrolling.
andybarton Posted January 22, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted January 22, 2007 Or... you could buy a larger screen, Stuart (This was the reasoning behind my "screen size poll" a few months ago. 20" is all you need ) Thanks anyway!
martinop Posted January 23, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 23, 2007 Interesting and enjoyable series. My personal favorite is #3 i.e. composition / framing /subject matter and the lighting tones / textures.
msnyc Posted January 23, 2007 Share #15 Posted January 23, 2007 Nothing like that tri-x. Beautiful
billh Posted January 23, 2007 Share #16 Posted January 23, 2007 Thanks, guys. I nearly didn't bother scanning the third one... . I assumed that was the case, but it is also my favorite - it is really quite special. It's interesting when a photo that seems so so to the photographer is the one everyone else just loves. I think that happens to all of us.
MrEd Posted January 23, 2007 Share #17 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi Andy, I agree with Bill. This is one of your best. Thanks for sharing. Ed. .
samwells Posted January 23, 2007 Share #18 Posted January 23, 2007 Agree with all ...no 3 is outstanding. Great how the grain makes it even sandier. Thanx for showing. cheers: Sam
dhsimmonds Posted January 23, 2007 Share #19 Posted January 23, 2007 Andy, the last one is definitely my favourite but they are all great shots. It would have been interesting to see the comparison between the DMR/19 in mono and the Tri-X. Can you go and do it again please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pendevour Posted January 23, 2007 Share #20 Posted January 23, 2007 Super trio of mono pics. Unlike the majority view, my favorite is the 1st image. For me the third (which has many excellent qualities) has just too many elements and I tend to prefer simpler compositions. Justa matter of taste.
