LeicaBraz Posted January 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I do use glasses and most often use a 50mm and a 28mm. Do those who own a 0.58 range finder see a clear advantage over the 0.72 one? Thanks
Advertisement Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hi LeicaBraz, Take a look here 0.58 vs 0.72. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Walt Calahan Posted January 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2011 I own an M6 TTL with a 0.58 viewfinder, and I wear glasses. Usually have a 35 mm mounted to the body. The reason I like it is I can see more of what's going on outside the frame lines so I'm aware of more in the scene. I think the 0.58 would be great for a 28 mm too. I use an M6 TTL with a 0.85 viewfinder, and a viewfinder magnifier, with my 24 mm and 75 mm to get more accurate focus. Since the 0.58 does not "see" wide enough for the 24 mm, I prefer the enlarged viewfinder of the 0.85 while using the 24 mm auxiliary viewfinder on the hotshoe. If I were shooting exclusively with your 50 mm, I'd probably go with a 0.72 body. Hope this is helpful. As always I recommend that you try out both viewfinder styles with your lens combination to see what works for you.
LeicaBraz Posted January 14, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted January 14, 2011 Helpful indeed, thanks. I have not yet been able to find an 0.58 to see through it.
Nick_Yoon Posted January 14, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2011 For me, the 28 frame in the 0.58 looks like the 35 frame in the 0.72. The 35 frame in the 0.58 is also very good, large enough to see what's going on in the frame while having a wide margin for seeing outside the frame.
