l.ceva Posted January 22, 2007 Share #1  Posted January 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just tried to convert some DNG files directly in JPG from C1 (maximum quality).  I was very surpeisded to see how bad are those jpg!  I just post here an example of the problem wihich happens on every files.  In the pictures You can see 2 crops the first is converted with C1 in JPG and the second in TIF 8bit. The pictures were converted from RGB to LAB in PS and channel A was selected and contrasted; look how different they look!  I know that tif is better then JPG but I did not expected such a bad result that I never had with other software (and camera). If I convert the tif to JPG in PS there is no problem at all!  Does anyone has noticed the same thing?  best regards  Lorenzo  http://www.lorenzocevavalla.it
Advertisement Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Hi l.ceva, Take a look here JPG conversion in C1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
george + Posted January 22, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 22, 2007 Lorenzo, in the Processing section C1 gives you an ability to define "File format". Is it possible that this was not set to "JPEG High quality"?
l.ceva Posted January 22, 2007 Author Share #3  Posted January 22, 2007 Ofourse It was setted to High Quality!  That is the reason of my surprise and also because the file look very different from normal JPG artifact.  I have just tried to do the same thing with a file RAW from my NIKON D2X and the result is the same so it seams to me that is a problem of C1 or perhaps a proble with my settings in C1 but I really can't find the solution.  Lorenzo  LORENZO CEVA VALLA - fotografia digitale
george + Posted January 22, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 22, 2007 Sorry Lorenzo, I was just trying to help. I have also found a difference between JPEG and TIFF but not as much as in the files you show. Mine were set at 300 DPI resolution and JPEG High quality. Â Hope you find the cause. :)
