mafoofan Posted January 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm trying to decide between a black paint or chrome MP, but hate the way a black lens looks on a chrome body. Is a chrome version of the new 35mm Summilux available, or going to be? Can one be special-ordered? Yes, I know this is a stupid question that a true photographer wouldn't care about, but please humor me--thanks!
Advertisement Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Hi mafoofan, Take a look here New 35mm Summilux: available in chrome?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted January 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2011 There is no chrome version of the new 35mm Summilux in the Leica list. Just the titanium version, which you have to take together with a superfluos M9-body for a certain price. Or you have to search for a chrome example of the first version of the 35 lux asph. Too bad that "certain price" is ~$20,000US. Any expectation a chrome version will become available, or has Leica simply stopped making chrome lenses? At any rate, can one be specially ordered? UliWer Posted January 3, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 3, 2011 They still list the 50lux in crome though I don't know, how long you'd have to wait for it; the 28cron was produced for a short time but not any longer in a "silver" version, which was no chrome. As far as I understand, they have difficulties to use real chrome for the lenses and the camera bodies. So I'd not exspect that they will bring out chrome lenses in the future. You might ask if they produce them on demand, but if they do, you should take a safe seat before hearing the price.
