Xmas Posted January 18, 2011 Share #21 Posted January 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry for the late answer, just saw it yet .. Well, seems so. Ask yourself, they prolly gonna tell you too. And, why shouldnt they ? They have absolutely no competition with this lens. Neither Leica nor Zeiss is ever going to build one of these. So they are alone with that lens and probably can talk pretty openly about it. Anyways : Nothing to stop Zeiss designing a f/1.1 and getting Cosina to make it, or making it themselves, unless their ZM contract with Cosina prohibits. The initlal design is just the input to a software tool... Donno about Leica a f/1 35mm Noct, who knows. Noel
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Hi Xmas, Take a look here Voigtländer 35mm Nokton f/1.2 - discontinued. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Corvi Posted January 19, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 19, 2011 Both Leica and Zeiss could have shaken a lens like that out of their sleeves years ago already. They neither lack the technology, the experience nor the means to build such a lens. But they didnt. So i really dont thing they are going to do so now or in the near future either .. Thou Leica is jumping on the fast prime train again to compensate the bad noise performance on their digital cameras, see the 21 'lux .. Still i would rather want a 28 'lux before they do something crazy like a 35 'noct
Xmas Posted January 19, 2011 Share #23 Posted January 19, 2011 Hi More people use a 35mm than a 28mm so, i.e. there is a larger market. I've got friends with the /1.2 CV. Cosina as well as cameras for other companies sell bespoke to the Ja military. They can manufacture one off or in volume cheap, that is why Zeiss use them for the bulk of the ZM lenses, i.e. Zeiss can make more profit. None of my Cosina equipment has been a problem... chrism Posted January 22, 2011 Share #24 Posted January 22, 2011 I confess I bought the CV 35/1.2 twice, and sold it twice. Too soft and too little contrast for my taste. I bought it the second time simply because I was made to doubt my first judgement by the rave reviews. Chris
Xmas Posted January 22, 2011 Share #25 Posted January 22, 2011 I confess I bought the CV 35/1.2 twice, and sold it twice. Too soft and too little contrast for my taste. I bought it the second time simply because I was made to doubt my first judgement by the rave reviews. Chris Hi Chris I did not say the /1.2 was a better lens, and it is way to big for me, as is the Asph, I'm happy with my pre Asph. Noel
Corvi Posted February 10, 2011 Share #26 Posted February 10, 2011 And here is the new one ! 2 cm shorter then the old one, 0,5m nearest focussing distance and a little bit lighter. I just started to save up and get this instead of the 50/1.1 CP+ 2011: Zwei lichtstarke Festbrennweiten von Voigtländer (aktualisiert) | photoscala (only found it in german yet)
farnz Posted February 10, 2011 Share #27 Posted February 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the link - nothing on Voigtlander's website about this lens so far. (Might this be a mock-up?) The lens *looks* very similar to the discontinued version apart from the chrome filter ring. Pete.
Corvi Posted February 10, 2011 Share #28 Posted February 10, 2011 Photoscala is a pretty reliable source. Don't think its a mock-up, just rather not yet updated and officially announced. Anyways, really looking forward to this gem. I think my decision is made wether i get this or the 50/1.1 .. Now i only want a refreshed 50/1.5 and im happy

wizard Posted February 14, 2011 Share #30 Posted February 14, 2011 No, certainly no mock-up. These lenses were actually shown on the CP+ fair, according to what is said on the quoted site. Andy
chris_tribble Posted February 15, 2011 Share #31 Posted February 15, 2011 Translated page here - it's a rather nice looking lens - especially the close focusing... Google Translate
400TX Posted February 16, 2011 Share #32 Posted February 16, 2011 Long ago, I had a 35/1.2 Nokton - I sold it because I wasn't using it much. Been kicking myself ever since. Now my policy is that any M mount lens or body that finds its way thru my front door automatically becomes a permanent resident.
Archiver Posted February 19, 2011 Share #33 Posted February 19, 2011 I am interested to see what this new 35/1.2 Nokton is like. If it has the same or smoother bokeh than the original, I won't know whether to be impressed with its performance or disappointed that I bought the original only a couple of months ago! But I do love the original, as it produces very interesting photos with a unique bokeh that I haven't seen in any other lens.
