D-LUX 4 w/ flash (or just FAST flash pics general?)

Hi all :-)

 

I'm new here.

I have a D-LUX 4 with viewfinder and ext. flash.

 

Is there a place to exchange tips and tricks? (can't find it here)

 

As an example I'm getting some pretty bad indoor pics with flash.

Found and tried the "Party"-scene, - it's much better than Auto,

but still there might be good advise for improving my results.

Making FAST, fine, family-type pics with this awesome camera must be possible :-)

I've also got a D-Lux 4, which I like a lot, but I almost never use flash with any camera (because I do such a bad job of it), so I'm afraid I can't help in regard to the question.

 

In regard to where to ask, you're there.

 

You might want to try the forum's search function with terms like "flash" and "D-Lux 4." There may be some pointers there.

Like Howard, I rarely use flash but I found that a book called the Photographer's Guide to the D-Lux 4 by Alexander S White was a gold mine of tips and tricks, general things that the manual doesn't tell you, and it covers flash too so the answers you're looking for will be in there.

Built in flash images look harsh IMO. By underexposing by 1/3 to 2/3 stops in auto my pictures look a little more natural but some post production tweaking is still necessary.
