schimmey Posted January 21, 2007 Share #1  Posted January 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All  I bought the Epson R2400 a while ago and like the quality if prints it delivers. However, I am sure that I am not getting as much out of it that I could. For one I notice that there is a distinct difference in colour between what is on screen and what comes out of the printer.  I have also just made a b/w print where many of the different greys are just 'blacked' out thus no real tonal variety. Don't know why!  Can anyone provide me with a basic breakdown of settings etc and/or steps to go through to get the best set up. Also, does it matter that I send a large file with a high dpi to the printer in terms of ink usage.  Kind regards.  Paul

Lode Posted January 21, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Has your monitor been calibrated for the same colour temperature as your (standard) roomlight e.g.5300K? If this is so, download the latest Epson color profiles. Â Lode
wparsonsgisnet Posted January 22, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 22, 2007 Paul, you will need the profiles (icc files) that correspond to this printer and to the paper you are using. The profiles will be downloadable from the paper maker's site. Â For example, I use Ilford paper a lot, and downloaded the appropriate icc files from Ilford's site for my printer. Â You can start with a google search for "ilford profile download" as I did. Â However, I find the prints are still a little dark, myself. I just lighten them up before printing. Â I also use the inexpensive Huey device for my screen calibration.
