pemayeux Posted January 21, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to post that inspite of the backfocus issue, which hopefully I can correct, I am most impressed with the M8. The weather was crappy yesterday so I decided to see how the M8 handled low light. It is a true M. Shot in b&w iso 640 w/ 50'lux asph. No post processsing or sharpening. Advertisement Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Hi pemayeux, Take a look here With all the negatives being tossed about. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
larry Posted January 21, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Paul, Â Sorry to hear that your rangefinder needs adjustment -- Leica may be pushing the limits of its manufacturing capacity and needs to slow down a bit. Despite the problems some people are experiencing, I've found the M8 to be a phenomenal camera. Â Very nice shots! Â Larry
carstenw Posted January 21, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Try a 2mm wrench in the hex nut in the little wheel which pushes against the lens. Some people are finding that a little careful, no-pressure adjustment of this removes the problem. Others, like myself, find that the adjustment is off not only for infinity and everything else in equal amounts (which can be fixed by this wheel), but that there are different offsets for near and far focus (which cannot be focused this simply, and requires sending the camera back). pemayeux Posted January 21, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Thank you Carsten, I will give this a try. My focus is off a consistent amount from near to infinity. Hopefully it will work, after waiting this long I would hate to have to give it up for another six weeks or so.
carstenw Posted January 22, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted January 22, 2007 Try to adjust it on infinity. Note that with the 50 Lux Asph, I see a difference between objects 1km away and those several km away, so choose a really distant church spire or something. Then repeatedly adjust a little, and check. It is fairly easy, but very fiddly, and will require many adjustments.
