Hans Roggen Posted January 21, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know what the turnaround is (in Europe - Holland in fact) for M8 repairs other than the first batch upgrade? Â My shuttter cocking thingy has broken and i hate to have to part from my M8 after only 17 days of getting to know eachother.
Advertisement Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Hi Hans Roggen, Take a look here Turnaround for repairs other than 'The Fix" in Europe. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Donald Posted January 21, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Hans, Â it took Solms 5 weeks to provide my lenses with 6 bit coding. Of course a different repair, but is seems sending your camera in should be your last resort. You're about 4 hours driving distance from Solms so why not give them a call and request to wait (a day?) while you're there and who knows they might even lend you a replacement body. Hans Roggen Posted January 21, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted January 21, 2007 That may not be such a bad idea. It's only a three hours and some minutes drive for me. Does anyone know if they have customers come to the factory and wait for repairs? Maybe some other dutch M8 users would like to come along for a trip to Solms. Guest Bernd Banken Posted January 21, 2007 Share #4  Posted January 21, 2007 Hans,  you can do this very easily:  Contact the customer service and parallel ask Mr. Welcker about a factory visit. Early in the morning you hit the CS and at around 10:00h the tour starts at the entrance hall.  Could be that your M8 is ready in the afternoon and you can hit the road.  Leica Camera AG / Leica Factory Tours Unternehmenskommunikation / Corporate Communications Johanneshof 21 / 35576 Wetzlar / Germany / kamera@t-online.de Tel. +49 (0) 6441-2009099 / Fax +49 (0) 6441-2009088  Karl H. carstenw Posted January 21, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted January 21, 2007 If you do decide to go, let me know. My near-focusing is off, and I don't want to send it away again, for fear that it would take a long time again. I would love to go some Thursday night, and visit Leica Friday, and get the camera back in the afternoon.

Hans Roggen Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #7 Â Posted January 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Carsten, Â I'm not going to Solms anymore since they replaced my broken M8 with a new one. Many thanks to my dealer and the people at Leica Holland. Great service! Â Hans
carstenw Posted January 27, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 27, 2007 That is great news for you, bad news for me I will call them at some point, but for now my new 35/2 Asph seems to focus well, so I will wait.
