Turnaround for repairs other than 'The Fix" in Europe

Hans,

it took Solms 5 weeks to provide my lenses with 6 bit coding. Of course a different repair, but is seems sending your camera in should be your last resort. You're about 4 hours driving distance from Solms so why not give them a call and request to wait (a day?) while you're there and who knows they might even lend you a replacement body.

That may not be such a bad idea. It's only a three hours and some minutes drive for me. Does anyone know if they have customers come to the factory and wait for repairs?

Maybe some other dutch M8 users would like to come along for a trip to Solms.

Hans,

you can do this very easily:

Contact the customer service and parallel ask Mr. Welcker about a factory visit. Early in the morning you hit the CS and at around 10:00h the tour starts at the entrance hall.

Could be that your M8 is ready in the afternoon and you can hit the road.

If you do decide to go, let me know. My near-focusing is off, and I don't want to send it away again, for fear that it would take a long time again. I would love to go some Thursday night, and visit Leica Friday, and get the camera back in the afternoon.
