Advertisement Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Hi due163, Take a look here Any Leica Dealers in Eastern canada?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
johnalex141r Posted December 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2010 Is Montreal far enough east? if so, then the Leica Boutique is great; Jean Bardjai there knows his stuff, from what I know. If I had known that they were there, I'd have purchased my M8 from them. Have purchased 2 leica lenses; they also have zeiss. Leica Boutique - Canada's Home for Quality Products and Service is the web site. JohnS
Dan States Posted December 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 25, 2010 Agreed. That is the best shop I've encountered in the states or Canada. He's a great guy.
due163 Posted December 25, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted December 25, 2010 Thanks guys Montreal is actually 1000 KMs west if me but I might be close to there next year, Ive waited 35 years for a Leica, I can wait a few more months Robert
IIIf Posted December 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2010 Robert, I have not seen any new (or even used) Leica stock east of Montreal for a couple decades. I bought my last new Leica in Saint John, but that was back in 1982. Good hunting!
due163 Posted December 26, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted December 26, 2010 Hmm hunting is the best term for it! Ive been on all the used sites and local classifieds , I would love to get one, but Im reluctant to spend so much without actually trying a RF first , my father thinks a SLR would be my best bet, but I dont think Leica make an R digital body ( except for the DMR) I did have someone offer me an R7 with a summicron 50 for 700 $ however , hmmm film, gah! my brain will burst here. Thanks for all the help guys, I forgot to mention I was on the leica boutique site and he had a great price on an M8 , under 2k! Robert ( leica wannabe!) 35mmSummicron Posted December 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) There are a few dealers in Toronto, Ontario, though I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend 8 Elm Camera. They are a small shop but will look after you. Best to call or if you have the chance, to go in person. Eight Elm Photo & Video .a
due163 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks for that link! that R7 and a summicron 50 f2 for 700 USD with a winder is tempting and doing my head in, but I honestly dont want to go back to film At the moment im thinking my best bet may be a Canon body and an adapter to use a Leica R lens perhaps , I shall keep looking and see what I can find Thanks again
RoySmith Posted December 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 28, 2010 I bought a M9 and a 50mm lux from Jean at Leica Boutique in Montreal. I've never been to the store. Jean is thorough, seems to get gear faster than most other Leica Dealers, and has competitive prices. Highly recommended. Roy
due163 Posted January 7, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted January 7, 2011 Thanks Roy Ill keep watching his used ads
vickko Posted January 7, 2011 Share #11 Posted January 7, 2011 I've bought a few items from Jean, at Leica Boutique (Camtec) in Montreal. He is fantastic. Oh, there is also Simon's Camera in Montreal, for used cameras. In Ottawa and Montreal, there is Vistek and Henry's, for Leica, but typically special order is required. andybarton Posted January 7, 2011 Share #12 Posted January 7, 2011 I think you need to decide whether you want a rangefinder or SLR first before you spend any money, to be honest.
jplomley Posted January 7, 2011 Share #13 Posted January 7, 2011 Anything Leica, buy from Jean at Camtec Photo. Excellent service and after sales support. I know for a fact he has a used M8 and 24/2.8 Elmarit Asph for sale (warning: selfish plug from someone who traded them for an M9 )
alexc Posted January 7, 2011 Share #14 Posted January 7, 2011 Try Jeff from photocreative: photocreative: Home, great guy, photographer and and Leica user. He is an authorized Leica dealer in Toronto area. Leica Boutique (Jean) and Eight Elm Photo & Video (Michael Lee) great places as well.
