This is so well photographed, and tells the story perfectly. Would it be even stronger if the child were sharp instead of the dog? Hard to say without seeing it, but the kind of question I often ask about my own shots.

Hi Larry,

Good question. I don't know the answer, but my gut told me to do it this way... and it was a split second decision. The "fuzziness" of the "brave" one somehow works for me, but I realize others may disagree.

Thank you for the kind words and the very valid question,

Peter.

Peter,

A fine shot with great composition, tones and moment. I agree that the shot would have been stronger with the child rendered more sharp.

Thanks Paul. I respectfully disagree with you, however, and obviously agree with those who agree with me!

Peter,

This is what makes this forum so strong and interesting. We can agree to disagree about an element of a fine picture. After reviewing your picture, I must say that you were right that the softness of the child enhanced the message you made.

Ha, ha! No problem, my friend! It took me this long to make up my mind too! I always take into consideration others' comments because most of the time we're emotionally attached to our own images, especially in the very beginning. Getting an unbiased view is therefore very valuable, and is always appreciated by me! Thank you again.
