any idea of the model or date ??

According to Rogliatti it's a Leica III made in 1934. A picture would be helpful in providing further information.

Many thanks for posting that link. It makes me wonder if I should have persisted with my "Friday" Leicaflex black SL, since it is such a great looking camera. However three visits to Leica UK in the first three months were just too much and I switched to Contax RTS type cameras for the next 20 years (139, RTS2, RX and AX).
