chrism Posted January 21, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted January 21, 2007 There really is no substitute for the focussing chart and a tripod. I had thought my 28mm Cron was spot on and my newer 50 Lux was backfocussing, but some effort with this chart showed all my lenses except the 28 slightly backfocussed, and it was focussed in front of the registration mark. A quick tweak with an Allen key has all lenses except the 28 just perfect, and the 28 needs to go for adjustment. Â Chris
tjv Posted January 22, 2007 Share #23  Posted January 22, 2007 Yes, I just checked with a ruler at a 4 degree angle and the 50mm us definatly off. 28mm asph is perfect, with the gradations to oof areas as they should be. Thankfully it's not the camera and I have a replacement on the way. Gutting though to see the QC go this way. TIm   "arthury Did you do the newspaper test? Place a newspaper perfectly flat stuck on a wall. Mount your camera on a tripod and shoot the newspaper: with focusing variations. Check your images on the computer." pemayeux Posted January 23, 2007 Share #24 Â Posted January 23, 2007 Ok - I downloaded the focus test chart, and carefully performed the focus tests on my 3 lenses, 35/1.4 ASPH, 50/1.4 ASPH, 75/1.4. Then I crossed checked using my MP. I found that the 35 is right on the money. The 50 is off by 8mm and the 75 is off by 6mm. Both the M8 and the MP gave the same results. I am now a firm believer in the focus test chart.
