Steve66 Posted December 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I obtained PM last week and downloaded the effex software last week. Being a aperture 3 user , like everybody else I was a bit nonplussed as to the value of the effex program. After a lot of researching I drew a blank. Attending an Apple one to one session ,the instructor showed me a work around, a bit clunky but a solution. It was during my initial visits to the effex 3 pro site that i noticed that half the effects seemingly available on the software are missing from the download..... inevitably the most attractive ones, in addition the download is 32 bit not the current 64 bit. Whilst not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth it seems that nik have engineered the promotion as a 'come on' to promote sales interest in their other programmes...obviously but why strip the package of its most attractive features. The most desirable program I guess would be silver efex , but I for one am a little put off it now. Maybe aperture 4 will offer the b & w conversions that siver effex currently has. Would the spokesperson from nik who seems to keep track of the threads care to illuminate ?
Advertisement Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Hi Steve66, Take a look here color eftex lite?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted December 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2010 You get a free two week trial of any Nik Software if you go to the Nik Software USA site. If you decide to buy, use the serial number that comes and activate the trial with that number. Nik also has tutorials on each product under the products tab. My opinion is that of you want to make non realistic manipulations to a photo file, photoshop is by far the best program and you don`t need any plugin to do do it. You simply need to know how to do it. Having said that, Nik Defin 2 does a marvelous job with noise reduction and it does it without smearing up details. Poeple also like the one from Topaz.. pico Posted December 11, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2010 My take is that the effex software is just a little perk. I would have donated regardless of the software.
