Whenever i'm watching tv these days and something magenta comes up (can be anything from P Diddy in a dark magenta suit to a woman carrying a purple handbag, but real magenta colors) I immediately think: "there's a classic example of the IR problem with the M8". Pretty stupid huh? Especially since i hardly ever came across the problem with my M8 and it hardly is a problem for me. Or has anyone else caught themselves thinking the same thing? Flourescent lights in display cabinets were common too. (Flourescent ceiling fixtures in kitchens are not so common now in better homes.) Anyway, we used to remove the plastic diffuser and install a pale Magenta filter inside the fixture so I could get a better color balance. (I carried large rolls of these and other filters.) I don't think advocating the use of the filters all the time is such a great idea. I am glad that I have had the opportunity to put the camera through its paces without the filters.
