Hans Roggen Posted January 19, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it just me who's going nuts? Or is magenta ever going to be just magenta again? Whenever i'm watching tv these days and something magenta comes up (can be anything from P Diddy in a dark magenta suit to a woman carrying a purple handbag, but real magenta colors) I immediately think: "there's a classic example of the IR problem with the M8". Pretty stupid huh? Especially since i hardly ever came across the problem with my M8 and it hardly is a problem for me. Or has anyone else caught themselves thinking the same thing? Â Cheers, Â Hans

AlanG Posted January 20, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted January 20, 2007 In the old days of film I often shot kitchens and other areas in homes that had flourescent lighting fixtures. Flourescent lights in display cabinets were common too. (Flourescent ceiling fixtures in kitchens are not so common now in better homes.) Anyway, we used to remove the plastic diffuser and install a pale Magenta filter inside the fixture so I could get a better color balance. (I carried large rolls of these and other filters.) Â Well a number of times we'd forget to remove the filters. I always wondered what the owners thought when they went into those pink rooms.

mr_big Posted January 20, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 20, 2007 Aren't you keeping up with the latest trends? Magenta is the new black.
Bill Sievers Posted January 20, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have shot my way around the IR problem without the filters. I don't think advocating the use of the filters all the time is such a great idea. I am glad that I have had the opportunity to put the camera through its paces without the filters. Â As for color imaging, I am particularly pleased with the look of M8 lowlight shots processed with Lightroom and the Velvia presets: Â Example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/captainvideo/362422119/
nikau Posted January 20, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 20, 2007 Guilty ... and I don't even have an M8 yet. I also believe there's too much cyan in the blacks of photos taken with my Canon DSLR (used with R lenses), so I'm really messed up!

And yeah, Nikau -- I've noticed the same phenomenon with my 5D.
Guest WPalank Posted January 20, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted January 20, 2007 It's funny, until joining this Forum I would have thought it was some synthetic reflection of the material and never the cameras fault!
