Michael Jones Posted January 18, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted January 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks to this forum for an education on the new M8 and for a clue as to when B&H gets their stock! It worked for me at about 4:45AM Central Time. My indecision regarding Black vs. Silver was swayed by the "bird in hand" effect. Black was in stock! Â I have used both over the years and I suppose it is a personal preference. I remember thinking very little at those times about the color of the camera, how it will wear, or what the resale value might be. I thought mainly about the image quality and how much I enjoyed using it! Â As for the teething pains of the new M8, consider me on board and buckled in. I want to be part of the success, as each of you are, of one of the greatest achievements in photographic technology. The synthesis of a Leica Digital M camera from the finest materials and newest technologies by the most respected and technically competent engineers and artisans in the photographic industry. Make no mistake about it. It took engineers on no less than three continents to bring this camera to market and into our hands. Â Now to search for a lens! Let's see, 28; no 35; no 24; f/2.8; no f2...........:} :)

Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 18, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted January 18, 2007 Karen just make sure you get a e-mail confirmation on it shipping first. Should take a couple hours. Try to refrain from biting your nails until than. Just kidding. i lost a order for 2 a few months ago because of a system glitch so either call and follow it up or wait on the e-mail confirmation
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 18, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted January 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Actually your looking pretty good since they are still showing in stock. I have done this on 4 different camera's so i have been around the block when it comes to B&H they have about a minute delay in there system but it has been a few since you placed and my bet is your okay
Eikonphoto Posted January 18, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted January 18, 2007 I have an emailed order confirmation ...... I guess it's not over until that shipping confirmation comes through. I have not ever had a situation with B&H where they have been wrong about that, but with the hair trigger, wait until sundown Saturday (I actually considered checking on that, except I'm shooting a wedding that day) stalk your M8 approach, who knows. I'm sure it's not worth their receiving department unpacking the shipping crate, they are flying out the door so much I order so much from them I should be invited their annual picnic (I bet that's fun) Fingers crossed. pelikan1931 Posted January 18, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted January 18, 2007 why solms not just set up a web page and accepts order direct from customers? far more efficient than this.
sdai Posted January 18, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted January 18, 2007 why solms not just set up a web page and accepts order direct from customers? far more efficient than this. Â I agree ... they can operate like Apple and Dell do it all the time, and people can custom order what they want.

gesper Posted January 18, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted January 18, 2007 I love the Dell process and have bought a ton of PC's from them, but I consider PC's and iPods to be mass, generic, somewht disposable items. I buy on the internet whenever possible, and have done so forever. Nonetheless, for something like an M8, I probably wouldnt have bought it if I hadn't been able to hold one and talk with a Leica rep at my local dealer. Shootist Posted January 18, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted January 18, 2007 Well I was at the B&H site this morning at 5:30 AM EDT and both were listed as Out Of Stock. Then I read this and another thread how they are In Stock BUT I was both to early and to late. I even called B&H, Adorama and 17th Street. None to be had. glenerrolrd Posted January 19, 2007 Share #17 Â Posted January 19, 2007 Well I was at the B&H site this morning at 5:30 AM EDT and both were listed as Out Of Stock. Then I read this and another thread how they are In Stock BUT I was both to early and to late. I even called B&H, Adorama and 17th Street. None to be had. My Black M8 is finally on the way form an Ohio dealer..I have the UPS confirmation with something in it for tomorrow AM. I checked B&H at 6 15am today and they showed the Black in stock. Artichoke Posted January 21, 2007 Share #18 Â Posted January 21, 2007 As of 11:45 EST, I checked the website where the Silver is showing back-ordered but shows up on the "in stock" button. Has anybody tried calling? I have that one in my hands delivered Friday & have been out shooting like mad, though the light here in Houston is dreadful I hit the button for the black one(s) they listed earlier & my order went through, but was not shipped the folks at B&H told there was a problem with the credit card I gave them ...had a wrong area code for my phone listed (!?!) ...my camera went to someone else I was very upset as I had missed out on one last week by seconds the excellent folks at B&H's customer service called around when I mentioned that a silver one was likely available as it was listed "in stock" but "back ordered" indeed there was one in the "Navy Yard" where they apparently get deliveries ...it was shipped Thursday afternoon & arrived in Houston just before 9:00 am ...telephone tenacity paid off for me ...they told me they only get a few in & they sell as quickly as they get them I managed to take some photographs with it & am delighted with what I have seen from it so far ...the camera is beautifully built & the Kodak sensor seems very capable I had forgotten how much fun shooting with a rangefinder can be
