brunom Posted January 17, 2007 Share #21  Posted January 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guy  One thing that strikes me very much is the size [ length] of those 2 lenses especially when compared with say the 35mm pre-asph Summilux. I know the wide open performance is different [ most would say much better] but stopped down a couple or few stops there's not that much difference, except the size !  Bruno

Sean: I have a vented one from Heavystar I use on my 50 'cron, not the same as a wide angle, I know, buty contact Heavystar via eBay and ask if he knows abut any. pascal_meheut Posted January 21, 2007 Share #25  Posted January 21, 2007 BTW, a 52mm snap-on cap works fine too with the 46mm metal hood.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 21, 2007 Share #26 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Just a little update the metal hoods are working great on both the 28 and 35 , so looks like i will keep working with them and it has opened the viewing up a little better. for the cheap prices of the hoods it may be worth trying one out on a lens
jrc Posted January 21, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought the Leica grip and a soft release, replaced the Leica strap with an UPstrap, and use a 1.25x eyepiece with all but the widest lenses. I've noticed that when I use the 28mm with the rectangular hood and the IR cut filter, that all the accessories give me a pretty (unwanted) eye-catching rig. The whole thing is still smaller than a D2x, but it's looking less and less like an old-fashioned camera and more and more like something exotic, which is not the look I particularly want. Not a problem for Guy, who is an out-front professional and the people he works with know that, but it *is* a problem if you're shooting cafe shots. I'm thinking of going to a Luigi hand-grip case just because it looks so retro and old-fashioned... Â JC
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 21, 2007 Share #28 Â Posted January 21, 2007 John one reason i do like the round hoods it looks a little smaller too so for the stealth mode it maybe a good option and I do like the look of the half cases. When i was in New York over Christmas i was barely noticed with the M8 even around my neck at times. i think folks view it as a P&S camera which is great for the street and had no reall issues there being in folks faces. One thing you may want to do with the half cases is actually distress them a little and make them look beat up. Maybe get some tool and kind of scratch just the case up a little make it look like a pair of worn jeans or something. Warning not the M8 just the case. LOL Â The rectangular hoods don't work particularly well when your in the stealth mode. The round ones work fine to protect the lens (or filter:o ) . With a Luigi half case the whole rig can be get down to a minimum size. I like to be able to slip my camera in a pocket or get it in my hand. Too many accesaries hanging of the camera make that difficult. Â Rex
Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 21, 2007 Share #30  Posted January 21, 2007 Well i'm going to try one on the leica 21mm as well, for less than ten dollars shipped it is worth the try. Same folks i bought the 46mm from  eBay: New! Metal Wide Angle 55mm Screw-in Lens Hood (item 140054379208 end time Feb-15-07 18:51:29 PST)
eronald Posted January 21, 2007 Share #31  Posted January 21, 2007 The 35 Lux is the best lens I've ever seen for sparkle, bar none. Impressed me so much I bought one. Which I'll probably never stop down past F4.  Edmund  Guy One thing that strikes me very much is the size [ length] of those 2 lenses especially when compared with say the 35mm pre-asph Summilux. jamriman Posted January 22, 2007 Share #33 Â Posted January 22, 2007 The BEST acessorie is by far Luigi's case. I have a spare black one without the grip if anyone is interested.
J_Brittenson Posted January 22, 2007 Share #34 Â Posted January 22, 2007 Check out the Leicagoodies two-finger strap (the SLING). It's just a piece of fabric ribbon with three holes, that folds back and forth a couple of times. It's then secured with a key ring, either just the one supplied or one at the end of a strap. A favorite with my M6, it got transfered promptly to the M8. www.leicagoodies.com The SFILL is a must-have also, for SF24 shooters. Â Edit: oops, I see they're down due to change of ownership for now.
chris_tribble Posted February 5, 2007 Share #35 Â Posted February 5, 2007 I've noticed that the Leicagoodies site has been hacked by cyber vandals. Does anyone have any information about this really useful little company? I wanted to buy the flash bounce they do, but now it looks as if this isn't going to be possible. Â Grateful for any updates. Â Thanks
Hans Roggen Posted February 5, 2007 Share #36 Â Posted February 5, 2007 I just made my own 'sling' from a piece of strap on an old backpack. Took two minutes. Â Hans

Took two minutes. Hans  Point taken - maybe that's why it went down the tubes... It did have one or two useful things on it though + it seems such a shame that it's been taken down in this unpleasant way.
Hans Roggen Posted February 5, 2007 Share #38 Â Posted February 5, 2007 That sounds like i am amongst the people who brought them down. I kind of resent that, since nobody knows why their site is down or if and why they went out of business. I made the sling way after their site told me they were closed for business until further notice, which was long before the site was hacked. chrism Posted February 5, 2007 Share #39 Â Posted February 5, 2007 It doesn't read that way to me, Hans. I don't think that was the poster's intention at all. Â Chris
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 5, 2007 Share #40 Â Posted February 5, 2007 Actually they had many other little products that where very useful. I have one of the diffusion material for the SF 24 and do like that.
