jrc Posted January 21, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted January 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought the Leica grip and a soft release, replaced the Leica strap with an UPstrap, and use a 1.25x eyepiece with all but the widest lenses. I've noticed that when I use the 28mm with the rectangular hood and the IR cut filter, that all the accessories give me a pretty (unwanted) eye-catching rig. The whole thing is still smaller than a D2x, but it's looking less and less like an old-fashioned camera and more and more like something exotic, which is not the look I particularly want. Not a problem for Guy, who is an out-front professional and the people he works with know that, but it *is* a problem if you're shooting cafe shots. I'm thinking of going to a Luigi hand-grip case just because it looks so retro and old-fashioned... Â JC Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

When i was in New York over Christmas i was barely noticed with the M8 even around my neck at times. i think folks view it as a P&S camera which is great for the street and had no reall issues there being in folks faces. One thing you may want to do with the half cases is actually distress them a little and make them look beat up. Maybe get some tool and kind of scratch just the case up a little make it look like a pair of worn jeans or something. Warning not the M8 just the case. LOL Â The rectangular hoods don't work particularly well when your in the stealth mode. The round ones work fine to protect the lens (or filter:o ) . With a Luigi half case the whole rig can be get down to a minimum size. I like to be able to slip my camera in a pocket or get it in my hand. It's just a piece of fabric ribbon with three holes, that folds back and forth a couple of times. It's then secured with a key ring, either just the one supplied or one at the end of a strap. A favorite with my M6, it got transfered promptly to the M8. www.leicagoodies.com The SFILL is a must-have also, for SF24 shooters. I kind of resent that, since nobody knows why their site is down or if and why they went out of business. I made the sling way after their site told me they were closed for business until further notice, which was long before the site was hacked.
